Lessons From 2021

Posted on 17th December 2021

Covid lockdowns, business interruptions and the threat of more of the same made 2021 a challenging year for many. Many of us lost loved ones, others suffered huge business and personal losses that can create ripple effects in every area of life. It’s no wonder that come the end of the year the opportunity to unwind as we evaluate is so vital.
4 End of Year Lessons

Gratitude brings clarity

It can be cliched to speak of gratitude but when you get into the habit as an individual or team of thinking about the things to be grateful for, it’s a powerful way to bring clarity and perspective.

Take the lesson from your mistakes

Inevitably, at the end of the year, it’s hard to forget mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes! There isn’t an individual or business that hasn’t messed up. The key thing is to reflect on the key learning points from the mistake, take the lesson and move on.

Confidence in your authenticity

Building a business, team or personal brand requires a deep sense of ‘who you are’ and ‘why are you doing this’. The ability to understand this brings a heightened awareness of your authenticity. Many people compare themselves with others and can feel inadequate. Comparisons are only useful if you are looking at external benchmarks or accreditations or where you are now compared to where your potential can take you.

Understand the power of choice

In a busy life, with responsibilities, and factors that are outside of control, it’s easy to get into a cycle of ‘disempowering duties’, i.e a haze of busyness that stops you from planning and being strategic about the future. This happens to leaders as well as those working their way up the professional/business ladder.

At the end of a year what a great feeling of empowerment to realise that you can choose to make changes, adjust plans, make different choices in any area that you choose
