National Stress Awareness Day

The first Wednesday of November is National Stress Awareness Day. Stress is one of the biggest causes of absences in the workplace.  Unrelenting stress can affect physical and mental health. According to the HSE, over 17.9 million days were lost in 2019/20 due to stress.  A  2022 report  by CIPD in conjunction with Simply Health, noted that stress continues to be one of the main causes of short and long term absence, Yet many leaders/entrepreneurs  still find it hard to talk about and manage stress.

4 tips to manage stress

1.     Recognise your limits and be aware of stress triggers

2.     Take regular breaks to recharge and refresh

3.     Monitor your workload and set realistic priorities if its stopping you from achieving balance or you feel stress impacting negatively on your mental wellbeing

4.     Reach out to networks for support and to share challenges and to help with solutions.
