The Security of Certainties

Posted on 29th June 2023

In  equity and trusts there is a concept of the 3 certainties. This  is a device to establish certainty to determine the existence of a Trust .

In personal development, a similar device can be used to establish a  long-term commitment to growth. Using this analogy, there are 4 certainties that demonstrate a growth mindset!

1.    Taking Risks

This can involve taking bold actions or a having a major mindset shift. Practically, this could be launching a business with all your funds, or starting a new venture with no funds, stepping outside of  your comfort zone like  leaving stability for uncertainty.

2.    Reflective Practices

Actions and reflective time need to go hand in hand. If you’re trying to develop a business or  make a big move, it’s easy to get so caught up in activity that you fail to do any reflecting. Preconceived ideas may be challenged and gaining insights through reflecting helps to  establish resilience.

3.    Experiencing Challenges

All the notable business leaders, inspirational creatives and  entrepreneurs have  experienced all manner  of unfavourable conditions.  When they share their accounts you learn of their challenges with inadequate resources, lack of  time, ridicule, funding  delays, lack of  confidence from key stakeholders and a host of other critical setbacks. An awareness that challenges are part of  the journey.  is essential.

4.    Confidence in Vision Realisation

A vital element of perseverance is an inner belief that there will be a positive outcome. If you start with a compelling vision of the change you want to see it will compel perseverance and focus. This  confidence is central to self-belief and the tenacity and   perseverance  until vision realisation.
